Hi, I’m Sonja—founder of The Proper Fox and a lifelong equestrian. I grew up riding in the hunters and equitation ring, where I developed a deep appreciation for tradition, horsemanship, and timeless style—values that still guide me today.
I live in Southern New Hampshire on our small pony farm, where muddy boots, early mornings, and barn life are simply part of everyday life. I’m also the proud mom of three girls who are avid equestrians themselves, spending countless hours at the barn and in the saddle.
The Proper Fox was created from my passion for the equestrian lifestyle and my belief that classic style and function should go hand in hand. Inspired by life at the barn and the traditions of the sport, I created The Proper Fox to reflect quality, authenticity, and a genuine love for all things equestrian.
Whether I’m cheering on my girls, caring for our ponies, or building The Proper Fox, everything I do is rooted in family, tradition, and the equestrian way of life.
